Our services to Aupairs are free of charge!

Being an au-pair is the cheapest way to learn the English language and the only way to really get to know British culture. That is because you live with a British family and experience their culture and way of life closely. Being an au-pair, you will have a chance to practice your English with native speakers of the language in your daily conversations. You also get more mature, take initiative and learn to handle many situations as you will be resposible for the children.

ARE YOU SUITABLE TO BE AN AU-PAIR?
• Do you like and get along with children?
• Are you used to doing light housework?
• Did you ever live away from your family? If not do you think you are ready to live away from your family for long periods of time?
• Do you have a passion to learn English?
• Are you curious about British culture?
• Can you adapt to different and challanging circumstances easily?
• Are you outgoing anf friendly?
• Do you get along with almost everyone?

Applicants who want to be an Au-Pair in England must:

  • be single and be aged between 17 and 27

  • be a citizen of any EU Country or Australia, Canada, Japan and New Zealand

  • have practical child-care experience

  • be available within the next six months

  • have completed a secondary education

  • not have a criminal record and be able to provide a police record check or certificate of good conduct

  • speak English at least at basic level

  • not have any medical or physical or psychological problems

  • be ready to provide the host family with responsible and loving child care

  • be able to do some light housework chores such as some ironing, dusting, hoovering

  • at all times, be polite, help the family and take the child care responsibilities seriously.

LANGUAGE EDUCATION

Most au-pairs will take English Language courses at the local college or language school. Au-pairs are responsible to pay their own fees but help from the family is appreciated in order to find and register at the most suitable institution.

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

The au-pair is responsible for his/her own travel costs to the UK however your family is required to pick her/him up at the airport.

POLICE REGISTRATION

Applicants from countries outside the EEA will need to register with the local police station within 7 days of their arrival. They will need their passport, 2 passport sized photographs and a fee of £34.50 that they, themselves are responsible to pay.

HEALTH INSURANCE

Most au-pairs are covered by the NHS. The au-pairs from countries that do not have a reciprocal agreement with Great Britain must get a private insurance before their arrival.
